Overview

Background

New starters in Project Services sometimes struggle to locate all of the information/guidance they need to settle into the team and effectively deliver their projects. Some information is on SharePoint, some is on the Wiki, some elsewhere. This project will assist the Project Services Section through the creation of a central signpost to direct people to the most useful information.

Scope

The proposed scope of this project is to:

  • Analyse what information people find useful, while taking into account the different roles in Project Services: Project Manager, Business Analyst, Programme Manager and Portfolio Manager.
  • Design an easy-to-use signpost visual which links to all of the required information
  • Determine the most appropriate location on the Project Services Team SharePoint site to store this project
  • Incorporate the central signpost into the induction procedure
  • Highlight any gaps and/or broken links or out of date (5 years or more) in existing information to the Project Sponsor.

Out of scope

  • Training of new starters on how to access the SharePoint and central signpost
  • Gather all information into one designated place
  • The project is focused on Project Services, so will not consider requirements for other sections.  The PM will meet with Service Management to share more about the project following planning, and the project outcomes will be shared at the end, however the scope of this project will not be extended.
  •  The project will not be looking at it from the perspective of anyone outside of Apps.
