Overview

Description

The PURE system delivers a functional and usable research management information system, designed for researchers, administrators, and managers across the University. The PURE system has been in place in an operational capacity since summer 2011.

Regular upgrades to the software are normally undertaken by IS Production Management as part of the agreed support arrangements, however, Exisiting Oracle version (11g) is currently undergoing an upgrade to 12c due to support expiring October 2016. PURE currently sits on Oracle 11g and compliance therefore requires for it to migrate to 12c.

Objectives

Provide a supported version of PURE due to existing Oracle version (11g) currently undergoing an upgrade to 12c (support for 11g expires October 2016).

Dependencies and Constraints

Dependencies

RES060 (PGR to PURE) delivering to time scale.

Outstanding PURE version upgrades, JAVA etc.

INF110 (Install Oracle 12c) delivering to time scale.

Wiki (COM026 upgrade) and JIRA (INF118 upgrade) having been migrated to 12c first

Contraints

Implement the backlog of patches prior to migrating PURE to 12c. Approx duration 8 weeks. Based on whether the current version of PURE (5.4.2) is supported

or

Implement v5.7 before migrating PURE to 12c as current version 5.4.2 is not supported but no further patches

or

Holdback all patches until PURE has been migrated to 12c and then implement

Change Freeze for start of new Academic year ( to protect stability of core systems)

The 2016 Special CAB dates will be Monday 21 August to Sunday 24 September 2016 inclusive - all changes will be reviewed by CAB before changes can be authorised in this period
