Overview

Background

IGMM currently have a DataStore file system with 786TB of capacity, and corresponding backup infrastructure.

IGMM require that Information Services expand this capacity to the maximum possible within a budget of £130,000 from current grant funding available for this purpose. Equipment purchases will be exempt from VAT by virtue of being used for medical research.

 

Scope

The project will specify, procure and commission an expansion to the IGMM DataStore file system.

The project will specify, procure and commission an expansion to the backup service to accomodate the increased capacity.

 

The project will not deliver any other changes to the current DataStore service as provided to IGMM.

 

Objectives

We will deliver the capacity expansion by:

 - specifying and procuring a complete capacity expansion solution, maximising the capacity provided within the current service definition and budget

 - procuring the equipment within approved procurement frameworks

 - installing the procured equipment at a mutually agreed time, aiming to minimise disruption to live service where possible

 

Deliverables

1. Specification of equipment and services to be procured agreed, and suitable documentation provided to IGMM to allow ordering.

2. Order for solution placed by IGMM

3. Equipment delivered to the University.

4. Additional capacity available in the IGMM file system.

5. Backup capacity in place.

 

Benefits

Additional storage capacity for research data held by IGMM.

 

Success Criteria

All equipment delivered by / invoiced 31st July 2016
