This project continues the development of the DataVault service. DataVault provides a long-term offline storage platform to hold immutable archives of research data. This enables researchers to comply with funder requirements for the long-term retention of their research data.

The DataVault enables cost-effective storage of data which is not expected to be active but is available should it be required for compliance review or access requests.

Multiple copies are held to allow for recovery of data which has degraded or otherwise been damaged whilst stored in the service.

Phase IV of the project will deliver improved recovery measures, standardised encryption key management, improvement to how retention dates are reported and actioned, further performance improvements, archive service  based data integrity checks (for faster processing of data audits), simplification of the webpages and an upgrade to the PURE interface.

The project SharePoint site contains the full project documentation set and work is tracked in a Jira Scrum dashboard.
