Immutable storage;
With the cyber threat increasing at pace the university is exploring solutions for a rapid return of service to Data and Applications following a Ransomeware attack.
Initially business critical services and data have been identified and will be written to Immutable storage.
This project will identify infrastructure requirements to support such a solution, their procurement and installation to the service delivery components required to effectively being the pre agreed data and application back into service.
Scope
This project is to build a secure environment that can provide a level of protection to the University of a widescale ransomware attack against the Universities primary research and service group storage – Datastore. Data will be held separately from existing backup service and is not intended to provide a longer backup window for users’ data. The intention is to build this around immutable tapes to prevent data tampering after ingesting. While, we will be creating a platform for testing restores, this will not include having the equipment to fully restore datastore.
