Impact
Priority and Funding
USG funded- Thanks to additional funding received from USG, staff have been recruited to add additional capacity to SSP. The IS staff are 2 developers (2 years), 1 Dev Tech analyst (1 year). Salaries are paid by ISG with salary transfer due from USG, as already completed for 19/20 in July 20.
Non IS staff have also been recruited: 1 BA 2 year, 1 tester 2 year (paid by USG)
This project is opened as normal priority
Impact and Dependencies
Impact and dependencies will be worked out as and when requirements are articulated. There may be dependencies with other SSP projects (Special Circs, Data Futures, integration work) and PM/senior BA will liaise with those stakeholders accordingly.
Lessons learned from previous projects
Lessons learned are taken from the APT (shrepoint https://uoe.sharepoint.com/sites/AssessmentandProgressionTools) and Direct Admissions (closure report https://secure.projects.ed.ac.uk/project/sac079/closure-report) good practice: regular releases, benefits led, user group engagement
Project Risks
- This project does not have the priority and ring-fenced resources it should have as a result of other compliance work (i.e. Data Futures, end of life for Personal Tutor, External Examiners, ECA Miniportfolio...) .Mitigation:
- Accept- The discretionary enhancement priorities of this project may be overruled by wider governance from USG portfolio. The governance of the project will steer the prioritities for the discretionary enhancements, but not for the compliance requirements.
- Avoid- the compliance requirements are required for BAU and statutory returns. As a result it is proposed that days are ring fenced for expected compliance work - around 60 days a year (to be reviewed)
- As circumstances change, as it happens with ART priorities, the product team may need to change directions when required as per programme governance. As a result expectations from stakeholders/users to be managed as not all the product backlog will be implemented.
- Accept: governance for ART and start of product backlog has been clarified, led by programme owner, supported by SSP management team
- Proposing the have checkpoints to review approach to deliver the product backlog
