PATH is currently a web-tool to display the courses offered by a School in a user friendly manner with features to aid the course choice process. It displays additional information collected from lecturing staff and students, including public course feedback and student authored descriptions of courses.
The PATH service has been run in School of Mathematics for a year.
The scope of the project is:
1. Phase 1 (live 2/9/13): Run a PATH service in the three Schools of Physics, Engineering and Mathematics to be ready for the start of Sept 13 freshers week: http://path.is.ed.ac.uk/ -Deliver a report highlighting the value of the PATH Service to the College of Science and Engineering, and the future costing by Dec 2013.
2.Phase 2 (December 13): -Move the service onto IS infrastructure, with appropriate changes to make it robust in a multi school setting and to improve the data integration with other core University systems eg EUCLID, DRPS - Delivery date to be confirmed. -Develop new functionality, including incorporating student degree programme information. Aim to deliver in small prioritised iterations, work to be constrained by resource budget.
