This new project is being initiated to gather requirements for use of discussion boards within College of Science and Engineering.

The software Piazza, a discussion forum tool is currently being used within CSCE (Mathematics, Physics and Astronomy, Informatics and Engineering), and CAHSS (in two schools), for the last six or seven years.

The software allows:

• Students to use it to create questions based on topic and test others;
• Academics can also review questions and QA the discussion board. 
• The tool contains LaTeX and images for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) teaching. 
• Designed for a modern audience.
• Integrated with LEARN

This tool was previously free to use until January 2021 and, half way through the academic year which has created an unexpected spend for schools. The supplier has changed their licence model on four occasions since December 2020; this has not been a stable situation. A replacement is needed by September 2022.
