The School of Engineering (SoE) has operated a service where postgraduate research (PGR) students are recruited to undertake tutoring and demonstrating work for a number of years. This work supports the School’s learning and teaching activities. Throughout its operation this service has been subject to regular change, both in response to amendments in employment law and University practice, and the School’s aspiration to run a more equitable and effective process for all those involved. Since academic year 2021/22 it has been evident that the existing School process and systems are no longer able to meet the School’s needs, and both short and long-term changes need to be made to meet School expectations. The need for change has also been brought to the fore by the deprecation of the existing SharePoint functionality used to manage requirement gathering and T&D recruitment from 1 April 2026.
The School of Engineering have been running a project to review their T&D operation. Their PM/BA has been seconded into a different role and they require a PM/BA to get them to their next milestone point in February 2025 to complete the Business Analysis of their T&D Processes and the options appraisal of their potential solutions.
