Programme info: To ensure that all areas of the University can operate seamlessly in the digital world, procurement is underway to secure a Short Courses Platform (SCP). The SCP will offer a digital education experience including online programmes and short courses that can be accessed worldwide and will focus on online Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and lifelong learning. Developed in collaboration with representatives from the Colleges and Schools, USG, CSG and ISG, the ultimate goal of the SCP programme is to deliver a University-wide catalogue of non-credit-bearing free and paid-for taught courses for externally facing users (non-affiliated/non-matriculated) featuring multiple modes of study (face-to-face, online, hybrid).

Project info: A number of schools across the University already offer stand-alone short courses and micro-credentials, and there are plans to increase the number and type of online CPD courses delivered to learners external to the University. In order to run and support the SCP offering the stakeholder groups will need a range of management information reporting. The purpose of this project (SCP004 - Operational and Management Reporting) is to:

  • document the detail of what is used today (reports, processes, systems, data feeds)
  • identify what data we need to capture going forward along with data sources
  • highlight what processes this data is supporting along with the MI reports that support the processes
  • draw up the data architecture and system design for the BI/MI solution (in alignment with UoE strategy)
  • build and implement the agreed design, including the support model

SCP capabilities will include course catalogue; checkout (integrated with University online payments system, WPM-Education); learner registration; VLE. Requirements gathering for operational and financial reporting will take all of this functionality into account.
