Feasibility report for Wind Responsive ventilation presented to Utilities Working Group for SCF funding: further discussion required, may be approved in phases. Plans for implementation on Fume Cupboards are underway - however it has been brought to my attention that the Joseph Black building will be substantially refurbished with works commencing in 4 or 5 years' time - this may have an impact on the fume cupboard retrofit project but it is unknown as the scope of the refurbishments is not known.
Sustainable Lab Ventilation Policy with associated guidelines, and a Sustainable Cold Storage Facility design policy with associated cold storage guidelines have been updated to incorporate comments from widespread and long-term consultation. These will both be presented to SLSG for approval in May.
Still no progress on the Sustainable Estates Design Guidelines, but the lab section is complete (and has been so for over a year). Plan to check lab section versus Ventilation Policy once approved. Plan to feed the findings of the Case Studies in Sustainable Development investigation into construction material accreditation schemes.
Cold Storage Sustainability Facilitator internship created - to recruit in May and commence in June. This will involve discarding unnecessary samples and undertaking basic defrost and filter cleaning maintenance.
Freezer Fleet Inventory undertaken - responses indicate c.522 freezers across the University of Edinburgh.
