**PLEASE NOTE THIS MAPS THE SRS CONTRIBUTION TO RELATED SLSG PROJECT**

This project supports the development of CPD for technical staff in laboratories through provision of training and resources, and developing community

Background

Technical staff play a key role in laboratory sustainability, but historically training and career progression support for this group has been relatively low. In terms of sustainability, they play a key role influencing and enacting practices that have impact on energy use and waste within many lab settings. Through participation in this project, SRS have scope to impact on content of training and make strong connections with stakeholders who have practical sustainability impact on a day to day basis.

Scope

This project intends to continue the work of the Technicians’ Support Steering Group (established November 2016) which aims to support CPD and community-building for the technical staff at University of Edinburgh – the majority of whom are lab-based. This document highlights in particular the role of SRS in this project.

Objectives

  • Working with HR, IAD, and lab technicians accessed through the wider SLSG network, improve CPD opportunities for technical staff

Deliverables
