Completion Report
Project Summary:
This project was established to prepare the brief for the project to implement CareerHub at the University of Edinburgh for the Careers Service, and reach agreement with the vendor and the University on the SLA, as well as to produce estimates& a project plan for the follow-on project. This work has now been completed and so STU241 can be closed, with the project brief and supporting documentation being copied to the project website for the implementation project once established.
The stated objectives for this project were:
1. To prepare and agree upon a project brief that will cover the implementation of CareerHub at the University of Edinburgh.
2. To produce agreed estimates for the project to deploy CareerHub.
3. To publish an agreed project plan for the deployment of CareerHub.
4. To determine how much work can be done in the current financial year, and whether any would need to be done in 14-15.
5. To obtain agreement between CareerHub Ltd and UoE Careers Service and IS Apps on the SLA and related contracts.
These have all been met.
The deliverables for this project were:
1. A project brief that details the project to implement CareerHub.
2. Agreed estimates for the project to implement CareerHub.
3. A project plan for the implementation and deployment of CareerHub, with confirmation of resources within IS Apps where required.
4. Finalised SLA between CareerHub Ltd and the UoE Careers Service.
5. Agreed terms and conditions between the vendor and the University of Edinburgh.
These have been delivered, apart from resources for work on the student data feed being secured. This work is for Development Services and a resolution is currently still under discussion with senior management on how best to resolve this.
Analysis of Resource Usage:
Staff Usage Estimate: 10 days
Staff Usage Actual: 10 days
Staff Usage Variance: 0%
Other Resource Estimate: 0 days
Other Resource Actual: 0 days
Other Resource Variance: 0%
Explanation for variance:
There is no variance in the effort used on the project. This was estimated at 10 days, and this has been used across IS apps in preparing the estimates and plans, as well as in some of the preparatory discussions that took place before STU241 formally started.
The delivery of the final estimates and plans has taken longer than anticipated as Careers asked us to review the original estimate, and this was modified again after receiving an updated specification for the student data feed from the Business Analyst assigned to the project by Student Systems.
These changes have led to a final estimate that has been agreed and accepted by all.
Key Learning Points:
Nothing to report.
Outstanding issues:
The assignation of resources in the Development Services team is still to be resolved, with the possibility that a resource conflict will be raised. The resolution of this issue may also impact on the current milestones.
