O1

Reports

Improved reporting that can be used during an exam board.

O1

More updates of the SMARTMI Universe

Would allow taking mark updates done during the day into account during the same day Exam Board meeting. Exam Boards often include external staff, who visit Edinburgh just for the day. Thus when a student's marks are changed due to exceptional circumstances etc, the Exam Boards require an updated report from SMART post the application of such changes.

O2

Pass/Fail

Improved information to SMART users. Prerequisite for certain Schools/courses.

O3

System scalability

SMART can be used properly across HSS schools,  will enable standardisation

O4

Handling zeros and null values

Will return correct results without multiple checking and will permit schools to use all the reports (which currently produce incorrect results preventing some schools from using XML and subsequently prevents them from uploading directly to EUCLID).

Gives confidence to users. Reduces work for registry who would otherwise have to do the csv uploads.

O5

Averaging marks/grades for a programme

Multiple issues will be addressed here:

1. Some are incorrect calculations of marks that need correction. Reduce risk of incorrect mark average  and possible damages to business

2. Part of this is to allow the Hons Calc to work despite whether it is looking over more than one year.

3. Amendment is also to cope with students studying away for a year so altering the calculations more easily

Gives confidence to users.

Allows HSS users to come on board more easily.

O6

Modify the yearly roll over process

Will allow PGT programmes to calculate programme results in September/October which currently does not work (something somewhere is looking at the wrong year).

Essential.

O7

Change calculation of Honours degree from ratio of years 3 to 4 from 50:50 to 1:2

Essential to allow Bio Sciences to use the system from 13/14 onwards for programme calculations

O8

Add a column to record reference at course level

Ability to record notes against a particular student on a particular course eg penalty applied recalculated due to special circumstances.

Allows admin and academic staff to see what is happening with a particular set of marks without extra bits of papers etc.  Allows some schools to stick with pdf files reducing the manipulation of data and possible introduction of errors.

O9

Vertical Text alignment in column headers for Progression Spreadsheets in SMART

For ease of printing and viewing course marks on spreadsheets.

Preferable for exam

Boards.

O10

Investigate disappearance in SMART of BA Exchange students who study at Edinburgh from other universities

Address possible issue.
