Proposed Business Processes

Descriptions

The proposed solution should include a regular job that extracts the required data from the Learn and Moodle databases and subsequently deposits these into the relevant tables in the reporting database. This will mean the automation of the collection of the data from the TEL applications (out of peak business hours, and at fortnightly intervals) and its upload into the reporting database or warehouse that will be used as the main repository for reporting on the usage and management of these applications.

This repository will subsequently be the datasource for the new BI universe that is to be developed. This will be the main conduit for the preparation of queries and reports on the TEL applications. It will re-use some of the current queries that form the basis of the reports output by TEL staff, but will be enhanced by the wider range of data (via the reporting database) available to those building new queries and further developing reports as information needs grow.

The repository will also have space (in the form of dedicated tables) for storing the necessary data on QuestionMark Perception (QMP) and PebblePad. As things stand, the data on these applications cannot be directly input into a database but requires some prior intervention by TEL staff before being uploaded. This will be done using CSV files.
