This project is not started and should be withdrawn from 2015/16 project list; it will be started in 2016/17.
The main reason for this is that the market has changed as the result of the acquisition of the current supplier, 3M Library Systems, by Bibliotheca, resulting in a change to the competitive environment. There are likely to be significant changes to the business of our former supplier as a result, under the Bibliotheca brand, including changes to personnel. It is likely that the product offering will also change. In this state of flux it is not wise for IS to seek to establish a framework agreement.
Secondly, due to advance planning (eg the purchase of units for use in the Law Library after its move to DHT Hub Summer 2016) there are no equipment purchases required in 2016. However, there will be purchases required in 2017.
Thirdly, there is no alternative to renewal of the annual maintenance equipment contract for our 3M kit, other than to continue with Bibliotheca, for 2016/17.
Barry as Service Owner met representatives of 2CQR, a small supplier of selfcheck equipment, on 16 December and gained valuable business information about their product portfolio and plans to offer alternative solutions to Bibliotheca.
