Proposal: Pay bounties for students to create IS web pages.

Method: Advertise that IS will pay bounties for web pages if these are authored by students and later selected for use, even in edited form. Students would be given information about UoE writing for the web   standards.

Benefits: Students are more in touch with what other students need and so are more likely to spot gaps in student-facing information, or to offer improvements on what's there. It would be cheaper to pay bonuses for supply of such pages than to pay professional staff to hunt for and close gaps. Since missing links would immediately qualify (why link if we didn't need the information to be there?) we could gain better feedback on these. It would encourage entrepreneurial thinking in students which they could carry beyond their time at the University.

Costs: Finding a price-point which encourages a response may require an iterative approach, but twenty Pounds per page would seem attractive given that students will work in bars for 7 Pounds per hour. At the 20 Pounds price point that would be 50 pages for 1K plus the costs of staff to do routing of suggestions to the appropriate IS staff for selection/rejection and editing.
