OccupEye on LGF
-
Live feed now available on the IS Website. However, the solution is only temporary and short-term. The OccupEye webpage is a secure page (https) and EdWeb does not currently support the embedding of secure content on pages. Temporarily we're using the UWP hosting server to embed the page, then embedding that UWP-hosted page in EdWeb. This is not a good solution and it will be removed on 12 August. OccupEye have been advised and an alternative solution was requested on 19 July - either a remote API service (that could be queried independently of the live feed link), or a non-secure version of that page. OccupEye responded on 26 July with a suggested solution - but our Web Team advised that this is not suitable. Callum Kerr and OccupEye are liaising to find a solution that works for us all. (UniDesk call I170705-0878). This is now an operational issue.

EIT raised for installation of power and network point on Main Library LGF to allow for Plasma Screen set-up (NetJob 14507, Work Request 1190617, EIT Number 10356357). Awaiting confirmation of installation date. EIT raised for commissioning of data point - EIT Number 10356399. EITs will not be completed this year - so this money will not be spent by end of year. User Services Business Administrator is aware, no money from project is to be transferred, and therefore should this work complete it will be funded from another User Services budget.
-
Plasma Screen, trolley, BrightSign and cabling was delivered.
-
Decision taken to set up Plasma Screen on the Ground Floor temporarily, until power and network has been installed on the Lower Ground Floor.
-
Mac address has been registered with Network Services.
-
June & July management reports added to wiki page.
-
Mailing list setup, linked to a new functional operator called OccupEye in Unidesk: Library helpdesk operator group.
-
Review meeting held with OccupEye on 19 July.
- Access given to new OccupEye beta dashboard.
- Barry met with the newly elected EUSA Vice President Education, Bobi Archer, and subsequently sent by email detailed documentation about the project and a link to the project video.
- An issue with the filter on the live feed was noted, and reported to OccupEye. This was resolved on 19 July - the auto page refresh was removing the filter.
IoT Pilot in LG.03
- Barry and Susan met and reviewed the IoT data on 19 July.
- Decision taken by IoT to withdraw the 2 remaining cushions week beginning 24 July. The experience has shown that smart cushions are not the best solution for Group Study Rooms for students.
- User communications on web have been updated.
Issues
-
Live feed embedding - as noted above - now an operational issue.
Tasks passed over to Service Team
- User Information Notice in LG.03 to be updated re smart cushion withdrawal.
- Service Team will create the content for the Plasma Screen and position the Plasma Screen in a public area.
- Power and data + commissioning of port for the Plasma Screen in LGF.
- Publicise new live display - including updates to user information posters, MyEd announcement and link from Main Library webpages.
- Sensors re-sequencing (sensors are currently in 3 sequences starting from 1, and each sequence relates to a host. We had expected them to be numbered 1-146. This brings a constraint in terms of zoning so we would like this changed. OccupEye can reconfigure, and then we would need the sensors re-stickered). Barry to check with Lesley Ross re desk numbering on her return from leave.
- Change power supply to Ethernet for Receivers.
- Review the privacy notice in context of the forthcoming General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
- Not part of this project - consider relocating sensors (and Receiver in corridor ceiling) currently located in LG.03 to individual study desks on Floor 1 and IT Support Desk.
