The paragraph text editor is deliberately limited to a small range of formatting options. This has allowed the website to develop and maintain a high level of consistency in the way paragraph text appears.
However, in the user survey completed in Sept 2010, over 40% of users requested that the functionality be enhanced to accommodate additional formats.
Following a period of consultation with the users group) on what additions are required (via our wiki), it’s clear that two further content types need to be accommodated:
- Citations
- Foot notes
It should not be assumed that citations should automatically appear as italics. It has been well documented that these can cause issues for visitors with dyslexia compromising the accessibility of the content.
Objectives and Deliverables
- Investigate how other website format citations other than in italics.
- Develop the rich text editor (RTE) so that users can assign different styles to specific areas of content.
Success Criteria
- All users can publish citations and foot notes on the website in an agreed and consistent format.
