This project is focused on developing the skills, processes and technology of the Website and Communications team to comprehensively transform the University’s suite of web services, including UX, design and web development. It is strongly aligned with the University's Web Strategy. Themes include:
- Developing a user-centred and flexible service offering that meets the needs of the wider University web estate
- Evolving the internal processes of the Website & Communications team toward a holistic, agile, continuous improvement approach to product development
- Establishing a Website Procurement Framework to identify approved outside suppliers for requests that are not a good fit for the central services
Examples
Harvard and Stanford offer excellent examples of what we expect to achieve. A coherent package combining website consultancy, user experience, design, training and support.
Harvard Web Publishing Service
The Oxford Mosaic, though less coordinated with the wider web services, is a great example of a 'centrally maintained and fully supported' 'cost-effective web publishing solution' product. Oxford have proven adept at highlighting the benefits of community investment in the platform, and have been successful in attracting their users back to the central provision.
