Over the past few years, the Portal Services team has focused on completing the User-Centred Portal programme of work under Digital Transformation. The primary deliverables from this work have been:  

• A new technical platform for MyEd, using a combination of uPortal and React  

• Review of MyEd channels and content  

• Research and development of a new interface targeted at students 

• Implementation of a notifications system capable of sending important updates to users 

In addition to the above, it is also critical that the underlying framework is up to date to ensure that security and any relevant legislative updates are implemented within a reasonable timescale as follows: 

• Incremental technical upgrades to uPortal and MyEd front-end. We aim to run MyEd on the latest available version of uPortal. 

• Upgrade to Open JDK  

• User research and review of interface for students, staff, applicants and alumni 

• Engagement and contributions to the open-source communities for uPortal and Fiosan (notifications) 

• Exploration into additional use cases, robust publishing workflows, and improved design for notifications
