Section One: Programme Commentary, RAG and Resources Update
This year the WIT and COM programmes have been combined into a single programme, Communications, Media and Web (CMW).
The programme contains projects relating to core IS services, such as MyEd, Wiki and Exchange. Projects carrying over from last year are planned within the overall delivery and are not significantly impacting on this year’s activities. The priority projects in the programme are all started and are currently scheduled to complete as planned.
Overall the programme is in reasonable shape but the pressure on staff to deliver several high priority projects in quick succession is considerable. There is also a high degree of change to be experienced by end users and supported by IS. The programme is particularly vulnerable to change through new initiatives emerging such as the Media Capture and Sharing - Options Appraisal.

Milestones Need restated
RAG Status RED | Report by Arthur Wilson for August 2013 No report available. entry by Maurice Franceschi. Arthur has taken over as PM from Martin Morrey. Arthur needs to restate what WEB002 scope (very strictly it is just the Apps effort), add new scope around CPanel. Also he needs to replan the Apps effort and how it works woth the consultants now being employed. Also needs to clarify the budget, which remains undefined in terms of effort and confirmation of funding. There seems to be Apps effort, SM effort within the Project. SM effort outside the Project, and now consultancy. Not at all clear if Fraser Muir knows and has agreed to the costs of al of this. At present, the CMW programme budget has not been increased to allow Apps resource to be booked due to lack of funding confirmation. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Milestones
RAG Status AMBER | Report by Maurice Franceschi for August 2013 A new project manager has been appointed. The project tasks up to the end of September have been planned and people assigned to the tasks. All tasks required have been requested in ASTA, showing a delviery date on May 2014 for Phase 1. The project team are working to bring the date forward, but it is expected that current milestones will change and that a February delivery for Phase 1 seems unlikely. New milestones and estimates will be set once resourcing of Priority 1 projects is completed, the BRD signed-off, and the build of the Prototype completed. So around end of Sept. A full list of the tasks to be planned and requested/assgined effort are shown in the tasklist. Phase 2 is currently being defined, so we can check that the budget and timescales for completion of the project. The intention is to then create a separate project for Phase 2 (of around 140 days). As planning is not complete and the new milestones have to be confirmed, the project status is Amber. CMW009 Video Services - Options Appraisal | Report by Adam Wadee for August 2013Achievements in Last PeriodTR code allocated following approval to start new in-year project. Key aims of the project: IS will lead a consultation study across the three Colleges on what is currently in use, the need and shape for an enhanced video service and some potential ways forward. This will include some market review activity to gather a better understanding of what other research intensive universities are doing and what vendor/open source capability is available. Delivery of a significantly expanded service is likely to need more resources than IS is currently deploying in this area, or has included in its longer term plan. The study work will aim to better identify some cost options going forward. The study would take place before the end of the current calendar year. Key dates: - Draft report by the end of October which will be presented at the ITC meeting in November. - Final report/business case completed in early 2014.
