The project will review Enterprise Services logging, monitoring and alerting tools.

Zenoss is increasingly expensive and doesn’t provide all the capabilities such as graphing and trend analysis that other tools such as OpsView and Icinga/Grafana can at much lower cost.  We will carry out a gap analysis of our existing monitoring and alerting tools and look at what metrics we need to be measuring and whether the tools we have are capable of capturing the data and making it useful.

The licence for Elastica is due for renewal in October and we will aim to replace this with an open-source version.
