Report for May 2018

Report Date
May 2018

Achievements

  • Further discussions with Victoria Dishon about the potential for code sprint work in Science & Engineering.
  • Participation in the DrupalCamp Drupal 8 code sprint.
  • In collaboration with the Website & Communications team and the Business School, a further Drupal 8 code sprint is planned for August 2nd.

Issues

  • It has now become clear that delays in approval for Victoria Dishon's related project to work on an application within Engineering mean that there will not now be an opportunity in that area to run a code sprint.  At least, this will not be possible before July.
  • Delays and conflicts on time for IS Apps and Victoria Dishon have further hindered the project in April and May.  This means we now have an anticipated underspend of 8 days, as noted under Budget Information.

Next Steps

Having successfully participated in and helped with a Drupal 8 code sprint at DrupalCamp Scotland, this project will now re-focus to deliver its objectives via the second Drupal 8 code sprint planned for 2nd August, instead of attempting to work further with Science & Engineering.  This is not a change in scope, it simply means that instead of using the innovation funding to work on different services/applications internally, we are using it to help us take the contribution beyond EdWeb & the University into the Drupal community.  The code sprint in August is not EdWeb-specific, but is for contribution to Drupal 8 core and contributed modules.

  • Planning for Drupal 8 code sprint on 2nd August.
  • Participation in Drupal 8 code sprint.
  • Final write-up following Drupal 8 code sprint.
  • Project closure anticipated mid-August.

Budget Information

  • Spend to date £680
  • Current Forecast to spend to date £3,880 (£680 plus 10 further days)
  • Original forecast spend for project £6400
  • Note that an underspend of £2,520 is now anticipated due to the delays and conflicts this project has suffered from since January
