Closure Report
Project Summary
GOFCoE required secure hosting of, and managed access to, sensitive reports/dashboards (UK commerce and industry financial performance). Some of these reports/dashboards will be made available to 3rd parties, and others to members of GOFCoE and the wider University. Such a facility cannot currently be provided in EIDF. The project delivered a standalone service to host periodically updated outputs (initially static HTML reports as outputs from GOFCoE analytics processing), and provide secure access to those reports in a shorter timeframe than can be achieved within EDIF. The nature of the data held within the reports, whilst not individualised, may still be sensitive in nature and therefore user-controlled access with two step verification is a critical aspect of the system.
Analysis of Resource Usage:
Staff Usage Estimate: 35 days
Staff Usage Actual: 37 days
Variance: + 2 days
Explanation for Variance
Additional effort from the UoE Disabilities team required regarding the accessibility report.
Outcome
The GOFCoE Extranet (inc Intranet) service provided by the ITI Data Tech team to GOFCoE went live on 12th April 2021. Although not in the original scope of the project, it was agreed that the project would remain open while GOFCoE engaged key initial clients for onboarding and pilot testing of the service. At the time of writing, several initial clients have used the service in pilot mode and although no particular actions have been identified from the pilot yet, it has been agreed that the project can formally close now as it is no longer needed to manage the remaining steps in the pilot phase.
Key Learning Points
The project would have benefited from clearer scoping agreement at the start. Further similar projects would benefit from an agreed project brief, with input from key members of all relevant teams across GOFCoE and Data Tech, being signed off at the start of the project.
Outstanding Issues
No outstanding issues.
Note At the time of writing, the EqIA is not fully complete, but it is out with the Staff Disability Network for review as recommended by the ISG Disabilities officer. The EqIA is expected to be fully complete within the next three weeks. This delay is not an issue as the service is still in pilot mode with GOFCoE clients.
