Project Brief
Project Vision: To enable Estates Security Radio System with GPS functionality.
Within Estates Security, there are currently 75 handheld radios for use by mobile security staff to communicate with the central control room. Currently these radios have no GPS functionality, so the location of the radios, and the staff using the radios is unknown.
Security currently own 40 new Motorola radio handsets, with GPS capability. They are currently not operational, as they need a server to be configured with Linktel software to enable this functionality.
This would give the control room more information on the location of the radios and the staff carrying them. This will help with locating staff who are closest to an incident, and improving staff and student security. Additionally, these handsets offer better encryption.
Security plan to retain the 75 older radios as backup, which will also be run from the new server.
