Weekly Project Meeting - 14 May 2013

Work completed last week

  • TNS connection issue for BI Launchpad in Dev has been resolved
  • EASE has been set up against DUST so EASE authentication issue can be resolved without impacting on Configuration Team's access to Dev
  • Spotlight set up on Windows server
  • Client Tools installed on Dev Server to workaround issue with Universe Design tool opening random ports (this will not be the final solution for getting client tools to connect)
  • Certificates issue has been investigated - the two existing issues relate to the Java certificate having expired and the server running UoE certificates, this is not the issue for R4 build as the server is running Terena certificaticates and the Java certificate are currently valid) - Refreshes for certificates will be included in the handover to Applications Management.
  • The Firewall to Live has been opened up allowing reports to be tested in dev for priority areas - more will be opened up over the coming weeks

Issues Encountered

  • New - a conflict for Peter Jackson's time means that Neil will be more involved in the SOA project, potentially causing clashes with the BOXI upgrade - need to revisit booking with PM
  • New - Custom SQL investigation has hit an issue where editing a report after applying custom sql loses the customised sql
  • New - While trialling the audit tool it was discovered that a few users groups had been missed by the migration to dev, steps to resolve this will be documented for the Test and Live builds
  • New - When copying a users profile the migration copies all associated users group permissions, this could impact the code freeze window (i.e. worst case no changes until all users have been migrated).
  • EASE authentication not completely working now requires support from SAP or Influential Software to resolve the issue
  • Need to arrange for testing of licence restrictions and how the end user is impacted - ongoing

Work scheduled for this week

  • New - Chase Influential Software regarding getting engineer on site to resolve EASE issue
  • New - Dev Tech review of ASTA booking with PM
  • New - Book team lunch - Craig
  • Design baseline load tests - Alister and Neil - link to test scenarios
  • Circulate default user document outside of the project team for review by business owners - Andrew - Covered at business user group - Send out
  • Ongoing Tidy up of existing universe has commenced (tracked on BOXI wiki - https://www.wiki.ed.ac.uk/display/boxiug/Pre-Upgrade+%27Tidy-up%27+Tasks+-+listed+by+Area) - ongoing
  • Raise purchase order for eLearning - Craig - Andrew to confirm which Eye Academy package we are opting for to confirm cost
  • Investigate metrics for no of users of live service (will inform licences required) - Neil - Obtained utility to extract XML of users for login (may not exists for R2) - ongoing

AOB

  • Update on task raised by the project sponsors:
    • We should seek end users to get involved in validating the R4 installation and tools – could look for volunteers from the Business User Group and approach the HSS consultancy team for contacts (could be Fraser Muir and Abdul that get involved directly). - AMcF continuing to follow up with consultancy teams.
  • Update on tasks raised by WIS review:
    • Project team to present a professional front for R4, potentially making use of consultants to promote R4 (communication strategy already allows for roadshows) - AMcF to investigate potential to have external speakers, CM to consider scope of project (e.g. aren't we straying into BI strategy)
