We propose to investiage the feasibility of producing inexpensive detailed indoor 3D maps of university spaces with a view to conducting an inventory of accessibility.
This will be accomplished by exploiting the first commercial hardware resulting from Googles Project Tango [https://get.google.com/tango/]. Specifically, we will purchase and use the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro Tango [http://shop.lenovo.com/gb/en/tango/] enabled device and use Play store Tango apps (Tango Constructor; Tango MeasureIt) to deliver the detailed indoor 3D models for cataloguing disabled ingress and egress spaces. The generated (spatial) data will be resuable in other contexts e.g. to embelish the recent Learning and Teaching spaces audit; by Estates & Buildings.
The concept, if proven to work, could be further used beyond the context of evaluating accessibility e.g for network planning, room remodelling etc. It further has potential for Augmented Reality gamification purposes.
