Data Requirements

Data information provided by Stephannie Hay, Moodle Service Manager: -

When a course is created the following data is required:

• System ID (in Moodle Course ID)
• Course ID (EUCLID code including AY in the format EDUA080952015-6SS1SEM2)
• Course Name
• Course short name
• Category ID

When a user is created the following data is required:

• System ID (in Moodle User ID)
• Username (including ‘@ed.ac.uk’)
• Authentication Method (set to Shibboleth)
• First name (preferred name, if possible)
• Surname
• Email address

There is certain data required for UAT. We will need to be able to link and pull course information and user information in order to fully test. Test Moodle has limited 15/16 year courses.

Current Category Hierarchy

• AY2015/16 – Live Course
  • Programme Name (e.g. MSc in Clinical Trials)
    • Semesters (e.g Semester 1)
      • Courses

• AY2015/16 Live Courses
  • Programme Name
    • Years (e.g. Poetry Year One [2015-2016]
      • Courses
• Various Categories out with Academic Years exist as well but these do not need to be considered when thinking of automatic course creation.
