Increasing the findability of library resources through schema.org.

Embedding schema.org metadata within the online records of items within Library and University Collections will increase their discoverability through search engines and the University Search.

The library's collections have become easier to discover online through the development of collections websites. This project will improve the integration of library collections with the new University search, Funnelback. This project will employ two UG interns for 7 months to review the library's applications for schema.org integration; match the metadata available for each collection with schema.org; implement schema.org within the application. Where the application is open source work with the community to integrate the code.

The interns will be based within the Library Digital Development Team and be advised by the LTW Website and Communications Team who have integrated Schema.org with EdWeb and are project owners for Funnelback implementation, and Library and University Collections Metadata Team who will advise and review the metadata to schema.org crosswalks.
