THIS PROJECT IS A DUPLICATE. THE MAIN LYNDA.COM IMPLEMENTATION PROJECT IS TEL034. AS FAR AS I CAN SEE, THIS PROJECT CAN BE CLOSED (JENNI HOUSTON 10/3/17)

Lynda.com provides a comprehensive library of online video courses covering a range of digital, creative and business skills topics. A campus-wide licence has just been procured for use by all staff and students.

This exciting new resource supports ISG and wider University strategic plans by transforming the way we offer digital skills training, increasing our capacity for digital skills development and enabling us to meet our aspirations. It will make a key contribution to Digital Transformation, the Learning, Teaching & Student Experience programme and the Service Excellence Programme. It will also help to develop a digital culture within the University and support staff and students to improve their digital skills for work, study and life.

To achieve successful engagement with Lynda.com by the wider university audience, Lynda.com first needs to be made available to all our staff and students with consideration for both data security and reporting requirements. Integration with single sign-on is a priority, and integration with Learn and Moodle is important to assist in effective use for curricular teaching. Integration with single sign-on has already been achieved by Edinburgh College of Art who started piloting Lynda.com in November 2015, in collaboration with ITI Enterprise Systems, so this should be straightforward. Technical integration with Learn has been successfully achieved at a number of UK HE institutions. There are known technical errors with the Moodle integration, for which Lynda.com are currently working on a fix.

Following integration Lynda.com needs to be successfully marketed and rolled out across the University community, in collaboration with Lynda.com Client Services, to ensure uptake and engagement. Regular events and communications with the Lynda.com User Group and wider audience will be essential in achieving this.

This project incorporates two existing Lynda.com projects:
