Communication Plan
Team
The project team will communicate continuously - face to face discussions are preferred but we will use Slack for distributed discussions. Email is a terrible medium for discussion and therefore will not be used when the intent is to have simple team discussions.
JIRA will be used for backlog management, release planning and iteration planning. Documents can be shared either via JIRA stories a network drive or OneDrive depending on their context and sensitivity.
Backlog Management
Running concurrently with development iterations, the Product Owner is responsible for grooming the product backlog such that the iterative cycle can continue. Other team members may need to assist the Product Owner in this task.
Iterations
We will practice the following ceremonies:
1) Iteration planning. This is where we agree as a team our commitment over the next iteration. It's where we flesh out stories enough to be confident that we can pick them up and deliver them during the iteration. This meeting occurs at the start of the iteration and typically last for 1 hour.
2) Daily standups. This is where all participants in the iteration give a brief summary of what they will do today and what is holding them up. These meetings typically last for 5 minutes.
3) Iteration review. This is where we review work that has been delivered. This meeting occurs at the end of the iteration and typically last for 1 hour (less if there is no demo of end-user features).
4) Iteration retrospective. This is where we review our performance as a team. This meeting occurs at the end of the iteration and typically last for 1 hour.
Release Preparations
The team will engage with Operational teams in the run-up to deployment of any release; the Project Manager will facilitate this process.
Wider Stakeholders
Will be kept informed of project progress via monthly reporting. Any stakeholder who would like more detailed information is welcome to attend the next iteration review meeting, and ad-hoc questions can be posed to the project manager.
