Overview

Background

During 2013/14 University Website Programme (UWP) started the development of a new University-wide Web CMS. The first non BETA release is due in November 2014 with development continuing throughout 2014/15. From November 2014 there will be a continual migration process where the sites currently hosted on Polopoly will be migrated to the new EdWeb based CMS. In 2013/14  Migration Preparation for Current Content and Data Structures UWP009 project delivered the technical investigation and proof of concept for migration. This resulted in the UWP site being auto migrated into EdWeb.

Scope

The scope of this project is to support the outputs from UWP009 project: Polopoly code extraction, editorial tasks in XML stage, Drupal Migration Module (Image, Content, Menu Structure) and Creation of new Migrations  :

 

and to deliver technical development where required in order to assist with the Polopoly migration to EdWeb for the releases being developed via UWP006 New University-wide Web CMS project

Items Deemed Out of Scope

  • Any websites which are not held on Polopoly
  • This project will not develop any CMS functionality
  • Removal of content from Polopoly

Objectives

The objective of this project is to deliver the auto-migration process of websites currently hosted in Polopoly to the new EdWeb CMS. All selected content will be migrated into existing EdWeb structures or as content in a format that will reduce post migration editorial overhead.

Deliverables

  • Business Analysis of website content to identify where bespoke development is required
  • Develop code solutions for site content migration,
  • Automated content migration - If during migration a feature on page is not delivered, it will be manually completed by the business.
  • All identified and confirmed website migrations to EdWeb from Polopoly
  • Updated Technical Handbook completed by IS Apps development resource
  • Updated Customer Handbook completed by UWP
