Project Brief

As a consequence of the rapid organic growth in the university campus gross internal area (GIA), staff and student numbers, the combined Academic and Accommodation Services utility costs have been growing exponentially and currently stand at circa £20M per annum. In line with the university commitment with implementing sustainability and environmental policies, there is the requirement to improve relative energy efficiency by 10%. The existing automatic meter reading (AMR), monitoring and targeting (M&T) and reporting systems have become inadequate in carrying out these functions due to the sheer volume and complexity of data collection and also the university’s strategic requirement for more transparent web-based systems and aspirational reporting structures.
The Energy Systems Consolidation project related activity has has been identified as an essential requirement to assist the university in reducing its energy consumption. The ultimate aim of the project of activity is to deliver a single system solution that will capture the required energy consumption throughout the University estate and provide the required energy related information for both the Estates Department and consumers of energy throughout the estate
The aim of this project is to detail the strategic direction of the project process to implement a new Energy Systems cosolidated system
