Currently, most downstream systems integrate with EUCLID using the legacy EUGEX database, which has limitations such as specific update times, ongoing maintenance requirements, and susceptibility to failure. Change-based event integrations have already been implemented for some systems e.g. P&M student fees, Enquiry Management and the new Student Case Management System.
The project will deliver generic students and programmes/courses related API (Application Programme Interface) that can then be used by downstreams applications to receive the most up-to-date student and applicant data from EUCLID.
Moving to change-based events technology and implementing a core standard API for EUCLID offers multiple benefits. It ensures
- consistent mechanisms for data transfer,
- streamlining integration processes using API/ Tribal’s STUTALK
- reducing dependency on the EUGEX database, especially if we move to the cloud as per Tribal roadmap
- it should improve overall system performance and facilitating seamless data exchange between EUCLID and downstream systems
