During 2020/21 ISG Research Services (RSS) and Systems Biology (CSE) had worked together to understand the potential for combining the expertise in the two areas (service infrastructure in RSS and experience with research image analysis) to potentially expand the current Systems Biology OMERO implementation to a more general University wide service.

Start of term is an increasingly challenging time for students and our IT and Library services. Our services are more complex and tightly integrated. Student numbers are increasing, and expectations are growing. It is important that the University provides a professional and positive experience for our students, particularly new first year undergraduates. Staff turnover from year to year can mean that key expertise is lost. This is all too important to leave to chance.

This annual project will upgrade SITS software to the latest supported version 10.3 (was 10.1, completed in Oct 21). This year there will also be a database upgrade to Oracle v19c (was 12.2) as required by the vendor.

This course is aimed at teachers, learning technologists and anyone else who is interested in developing the key skills and knowledge to create video assets for courses. It will introduce the key components, considerations, and digital tools needed to produce engaging media for online learning, either in collaboration with learning design teams at the University or elsewhere.
