Kaltura, who supplies the Media Hopper Create system to the university, has been updating its user experience over the last two years.  Taking guidance from the Media Hopper Create user group, user experience changes are not deployed during term time.  Kaltura now has a full update of the user experience for their system that covers the components that the university deploys.

The central service team wants the user group to review the updates to plan a deployment of the updated experience for the 24/25 academic year.

Project Overview

The university has a corporate partnership with the Association for Project Management (APM), and can access a wide range of benefits and resources as a result. These resources are not available to students, they can instead become an individual member at no cost.  Most students are unaware of this opportunity and therefore this project aims to create tools to raise awareness amongst students of what APM resources are available to them.

There are currently no written procedures for managing risk within Project Services.

Project Managers struggle to find information on what documentation they must complete and the different escalation processes at the university.

This project aims to develop these risk management procedures and to create some exemplars on the SAMSIM project on the projects website.

Currently, most downstream systems integrate with EUCLID using the legacy EUGEX database, which has limitations such as specific update times, ongoing maintenance requirements, and susceptibility to failure.  Change-based event integrations have already been implemented for some systems e.g. P&M student fees, Enquiry Management and the new Student Case Management System.

OCS (Open Computer and Software Inventory Next) is a free software that enables users to inventory their IT assets. It collects information about the hardware and software of networked machines running the OCS client program ("OCS Inventory Agent"). Agents are also able to scan their own subnets to further discover other devices which might not run the agent (such as printers) via “IpDiscover”. The inventory is accessed and visualised via a web interface running on the OCS Inventory server.
