As the University continues to respond to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak a number of planned or future events and conferences have had to be cancelled or postponed due to lockdown and social distancing restrictions. As time progresses however there is a substantial upturn in the number of online initiatives being requested or developed, many as a replacement for in-person physical events or conferences that can no longer be held.

As the University moves to hybrid teaching there is a need to provide new and returning students with support resources and skills development so that they feel supported by the University and have the confidence to learn from the hybrid teaching approach. 

This is expected to be a suite of resources that, due to timeframes and for efficiency, will mainly  reuse or adapt existing content. The detailed design of the course will confirm the specifics but at a high level the course is expected to cover;

Oversight of phased building reopening, in accordance with University defined timeline, strategy and social distancing expectations.

Work in close collaboration with CSE, H&S and Estates colleagues to ensure the planning, resourcing and clear communication of phased reopening, as part of the adaption and resilience effort, mindful of local Bayes Centre strategy, priorities and occupant needs.  This short-term working group is accountable to Bayes Executive Group.

The aim of the project is to be able to guarantee our students high quality education and close engagement with academic staff regardless of their physical location or the constraints that may be placed on residential students as a consequence of social distancing.  Our approach is, broadly, to ensure that key content can be delivered online and to develop styles of engagement that are adaptive, allowing engagement in person or online depending on what is most effective for students.

The purpose of this project is to document the requirements, go to the market to procure and then implement a new E-Assessment service.  The procurement phase of the project is expected to complete during the early part of 2021 with the implementation to follow directly after as Phase 2 of the project.

The essence of this project is to obtain a replacement E-Assessment solution for QMP (Questionmark Perception).  QMP is a centrally supported tool that provides capability for Schools to deliver exams and assessments online.
