There isn’t a clear understanding of what the needs for High Performance Computing (HPC) across the schools are. The schools of Physics and Informatics have large requirements for HPC whereas other schools like Maths have less well documented needs.
There is also no consistency in current usage of HPC. Some schools have access to local HPC provision, while others are using ISG, EPCC services or external supplier services.

An evaluation of the current EPPSAT and Simulated Patient databases is required, as these have been in use for around 10 years without any significant upgrades. The systems are both built in MS Access, in some cases get used by the same staff, but were originally developed by different people. Following the evaluation, a plan will be put in place to upgrade both systems.

The Anatomy team currently use a number of separate files to store information about donations that they use and have stored within the department. Due to the sensitive nature of this information and the current admin overhead associated with keeping the files up-to-date, a new database system is required. This project will carry out an analysis of the current data types stored and the functions required, investigate systems in use within other universities (if possible) and then develop a new database system that can be used by the department.

This initial project is to develop an integration between Pure and SharePoint utilising Pure API (this is dependent on triggers and availability of webhooks to support the integration) / Pure Web Services and Pure Impact form so that the functionalities of both systems can be used to support the effective collection and tracking of impact evidence.
